SDI SYSTEM WITH SCALABLE FILTERING OF XML DOCUMENTS FOR MOBILE CLIENTS

Abstract


Mobile information retrieval is crucial to share the vast information from diverse data sources. The inherent limitations of mobile devices require information to be delivered to mobile clients to be highly personalized consistent with their profiles. Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) system distributes the right information to the right users based upon their profiles. Typically, the exploitation of Extensible Markup Language (XML) representation entails profile representation and the utilization of the XML query languages assist the employment of efficient profile indexing techniques. In this paper, we propose the architecture for SDI system with scalable XML filtering technique to disseminate vastly personalized information from XML data sources to mobile clients. We also describe efficient indexing mechanism for filtering and matching of XML documents against large number of user profiles expressed with the XML-QL language. Finally, we present the experimental result that demonstrates its scalability performance.
